The LCMS is a Bible-based, mission-oriented, confessional Christian denomination, founded upon the teachings of Martin Luther and is headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri.

In 1847, twelve Lutheran pastors representing fifteen congregations signed a constituion that established what is now know as the LCMS.  They were men of faith and conviction, immigrants who were stirred for mission.

"In grateful response to God’s grace and empowered by the Holy Spirit through Word and Sacraments, the mission of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is to vigorously make known the love of Christ by word and deed within our churches, communities, and the world."

The church broadcasts the saving message of Jesus Christ over KFUO Radio, and it has relationships and active mission work in nearly 90 countries around the world.

grace logoThe teachings of Martin Luther and the reformers are summarized

in three phrases:

"Grace alone, Faith alone, Scripture alone."

W M_LT_finalWitness. Mercy. Life Together.

These phrases—Witness, Mercy, Life Together—illustrate how the church lives and works together to proclaim the Gospel and to provide for our brothers and sisters in Christ in our congregations, communities and throughout the world.   And in all we do, Christ is at the center, leading us, sustaining us, keeping us focused on our mission.  This will never change.

Witness

“For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.”

– Mark 10:45
Life Together

– 1 Corinthians 1:9
